The Red Wings have been hot, but they are emerging from their torpor

Patrick Kane had three points and the Detroit Red Wings narrowly escaped with a 7-6 shootout victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night at Little Caesars Arena.

The star striker scored his team's first two goals and provided an assist in Shayne Gostisbehere's net. The winner added two more goals through JT Compher and Daniel Sprong before the first period ended 5-1 for the crowd favorite.

What followed was a comeback by the Flyers, who took the lead with five goals in a row. However, Dylan Larkin equalized with less than five minutes left in regulation time.

Lucas Raymond and Kane hit the target in the shootout and goalkeeper James Reimer frustrated the three opposing shooters.

This win ended a four-game losing streak for the Wings, who have tasted victory just twice in their last nine games.

It was also Kane's most productive evening at work since his return to the National League on December 7th. He has now collected nine points in as many games.

Alex DeBrincat had three assists for the Red Wings. The Flyers' goals came from Scott Laughton, Bobby Bink, Sean Couturier, Morgan Frost, Garnett Hathaway and Owen Tippett.
