Montreal Canadiens fans will recognize several former players from the organization. In fact, defenders Nathan Beaulieu, Éric Gélinas and Jordie Benn have been selected to take part in the competition, which will take place from December 26th to 31st.

Additionally, Aaron Dell is one of the three Guardians of the Maple Leaf. The veteran recently completed a professional tryout with the Carolina Hurricanes as a free agent.

The players were selected by several managers including Joe Thornton. The former National League star player serves as co-general manager of the Canadian team in the Spengler Cup.

“We are proud to announce the names of the 25 players who will represent Canada at this year’s Spengler Cup,” Thornton said in a press release. This is a unique tournament and we know how eager these athletes are to take on this challenge and fight for this historic title. We have formed a talented group with a diverse professional and international background. We are convinced that esprit de corps will quickly develop within the team and that the players will wear the maple leaf with pride in Davos.

The Spengler Cup tournament is a competition that brings together teams invited by HC Davos, the event's host team since 1923. Canada is the most successful club with 16 crowns, one more than the host team.
