Around 400 people, including passengers and crew members, who were on board a luxury cruise ship experienced a great fright on the high seas this Friday (22). The ship was hit by a giant wave during a storm in the North Sea around 260 kilometers off the west coast of Denmark and around 350 kilometers off the east coast of Great Britain. The fortress caused damage to the ship, which lost power.

Images taken by passengers on the MS Maud show the exact moment the wave hit the ship. “As soon as the wave hit, the TV screen went off and the distress signal from the ship's horn sounded, so I knew something was wrong,” a Briton who was on board said in an interview with the Chron.

Nobody got hurt. In the pictures circulating on the Internet, products from a cruise shop can be seen scattered on the floor.

The Norwegian cruise ship MS Maud had British tourists on board and began the 14day expedition in search of the lights of the Northern Lights. The voyage began on December 9th in the town of Floroe in Norway and was due to end this Saturday (23rd) in the port of Tilbury in the UK.

Due to the incident, the ship was diverted to Germany and the passengers disembarked in the city of Bremerhaven this Friday (22). This is because the ship's turbines were functioning normally despite the lack of power, the Hurtigruten company told the Chron.
