Weather in Quebec: Cloudy but pleasant weather this holiday weekend

Quebecers will have to mourn a snowy Christmas as sunny weather sets in with pleasant temperatures this holiday weekend.

With temperatures above seasonal norms, areas with little or no snow will have to make do with a green Christmas. But despite the melt, the white carpet could last until Christmas morning in regions where snow cover is still good, said Serge Mainville, a meteorologist with Environment Canada.

As a result, Environment Canada is forecasting no precipitation for Saturday, except in the Gatineau sector, where cloudy weather could lead to some showers in the evening, even with the risk of freezing drizzle.

In Montreal there will be a change of sun and clouds, which will cause the mercury to rise. Temperatures remain above seasonal normal at -3 degrees.

In the center of the province, which is also spared from the cold, clouds will be thicker as temperatures remain within seasonal norms at -4 degrees in Quebec and -6 degrees in Saguenay.

The same scenario of pleasant weather under clouds is expected in eastern Quebec, where temperatures will even reach slightly below freezing in certain sectors, according to federal forecasts.

On Sunday, the mercury will continue to rise in most areas of the province. Skies will remain generally cloudy, but periods of clearing are expected in eastern Quebec.
