Extended Forecast: 50-60% chance of above-average temperatures in the PNW during the first three months of 2024

So what’s next as we head into 2024?
The National Weather Service's eight- to 14-day forecast released Thursday shows a 40-50 percent chance of above-average temperatures for Western Washington. As for precipitation, the NWS predicts a 33-40% chance of below normal rain and snow.
These two factors could make it difficult for our ski areas to expand their base.
As for temperatures, they expected a 50-60% chance of above-average temperatures and a 33-40% chance of below-average precipitation for the Pacific Northwest during the first three months of 2024.

These extended forecasts relate to trends and not specific weather events. Even though it's getting warmer and drier, that doesn't mean Western Washington won't be hit by a good old-fashioned snowstorm at some point this winter.
