Thermal shock and shock in general. This is the story of a cruise that turns into a fiasco. Almost 3,000 vacationers who actually wanted to go to the Caribbean ended up in Canada. Among them Manon and Alexandre. They had paid 2,000 euros to spend a week in the Bahamas. Finally, they enjoyed Boston (USA) and St. John (Canada). With a thermometer that dropped to -13°C.
“When you board, once your luggage is on board, you realize that the itinerary has changed radically. You imagined yourself on the sand and with your feet in the water in the Caribbean Sea… For me that was a very big disappointment,” says RTL. “We were in the cold,” says Alexandre, “we adapted, we were very cold.” And the couple downplays the drama: “We were recognized quite quickly [par les Canadiens]. I went out in shorts (…), they're not used to thatsays Manon. “Half of our things stayed in the suitcases.” “They’re clean, they’ll come back the way they arrived,” Manon prefers to laugh. “We leave with a little bitter taste,” she concludes.
According to information from our colleagues at La Dépêche du Midi, the cruise company has changed its navigation plans due to “bad weather expected in Florida and the Bahamas”. However, the email containing this information did not arrive at customers' homes until the day before departure, when many of them were already at the dock. Originally, 5,400 passengers were supposed to travel on board the boat, but in the end there were only 2,800.
