Chelsea vs. Wolverhampton didn't just mean a new defeat for the leaders Mauricio Pochettino, but also marked a historic milestone in the Premier League. It happens that after 28 long years, the highest body responsible for organizing English football broke with its tradition and scheduled an official game for December 24th.
This had not happened since December 24, 1995, when Leeds United beat Manchester United 3-1 at Elland Road. Since then, the Premier League has organized games on dates before the 24th and 25th, but not a few hours before Christmasa tradition that was broken in 2023 and that, according to an official statement, will not be repeated from now on.
