A horrific scene unfolded in Columbus Saturday night when Sean Kuraly collapsed.
The Blue Jackets forward was caught off guard by a check from Jake McCabe and while trying to regain his composure, he was hit in the stomach by a puck.
Kuraly then retreated to his team's bench under his own power before stopping in the locker room hallway. The Blue Jackets' medical staff immediately called for the game to be stopped so that paramedics could come to the American's aid.
Both teams returned to the locker room with just 18 seconds left in the first period. After the break the time continued.
The Blue Jackets announced that the forward was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
