Stacey Solomon reveals the one “weird” Christmas tradition she sticks to every year even though her whole family refuses to take part

Stacey Solomon has revealed the whimsical Christmas spirit that has stuck with her every year since she was a child, despite her entire family refusing to take part.

The Loose Women panellist, 34, is preparing to spend the festive period with husband Joe Swash, 41, and their children Rex, four, Rose, two, and Belle, seven months, as well as their two sons Zachary, 15, and to spend Leighton, 11, from previous relationships.

And this year will be no different for her when it comes to a holiday ritual: eating half a grapefruit sprinkled with sugar for breakfast.

In a video about her Christmas likes and dislikes posted to Loose Women's TikTok channel, she explained: “That sounds really strange… my mother used to cut a grapefruit in half every Christmas morning, put some sugar on it and so on. “ was our breakfast.

“None of my kids will eat it, Joe won't eat it, it's not even that great, but I just have to eat it every Christmas.” “I don't eat grapefruit all year long, but on Christmas morning I sit with half a grapefruit and sugar there and really enjoy it.”

Elsewhere, Stacey spoke about what she loves and dislikes about Christmas.

When asked about festive foods, she said she preferred hot chocolate and exclaimed, “Glühwein is disgusting!” Who invented that?'

She also insisted that Christmas pudding tastes like “nail polish” but said she thought it looked pretty when the alcohol-coated dessert was set on fire.

Earlier this month, Stacey celebrated her grandmother's 95th birthday by performing Christmas carols at her nursing home.

The TV presenter admitted she was nervous about singing, adding that she had been “forced to become the resident singer at the care home”.

The former X Factor woman wrote on her Instagram story at the time: “About to become the Carehome (sic) singer for today.” Grandma asked me to sing for her 95th birthday today so here we are : Rose is ready to sing.

“I really feel so nervous and embarrassed to sing in front of people these days, but how can I say no to grandma?”

In October, Stacey revealed how happy she was that her grandmother had moved into a care home near Pickle Cottage, where she and her family live.

She said it took her grandmother years to convince her, and when she finally agreed, it took Stacey and her sister months to get her to a suitable location.

Stacey wrote on social media: “After years of trying we have finally managed to convince Grandma to come and live closer to us. So over the last few months we have been finding a nursing home close to me and my sister, and today she is coming home.”

“I can't describe how happy we are. I feel so emotional because we are so lucky to have our grandma in our lives. Having them close to us where we can enjoy them every day just means the world to us.

“We are currently preparing her room and doing everything we can to upload her things and pictures and make the move as comfortable as possible so she feels safe and excited.”
