HAMAS – Hamas's Ministry of Health announced on Sunday, December 24, that at least 70 people were killed in an Israeli attack on houses in a refugee camp in the Gaza Strip.
The ministry, which reported at least 60 dead in an earlier report, confirmed that the Israeli strike destroyed at least three houses in the al-Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
This report could not immediately be confirmed by an independent source. When questioned, the Israeli army said it was “verifying” the information.
Ten members of the same family were killed
Health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said the attack destroyed “a block of inhabited houses” and that the number of victims was “likely to rise” as many families were there at the time of the bombing.
In addition, ten members of the same family were killed in an Israeli attack on their home in Jabaliya camp in the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health.
The Palestinian Hamas Ministry of Health said on Sunday that Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip had claimed 20,424 lives since the war began on October 7.
That figure includes 166 people killed in the past 24 hours, the ministry said, which also reported more than 54,036 injured.
