An American fatally shot his wife in Pennsylvania before turning the gun on himself, leaving their five children orphaned just days before Christmas.
On Thursday around 7 p.m. there was an argument between Blaise Rais and his wife Brooke in Greenwood. Following this altercation, the 39-year-old man shot the 34-year-old woman in the head, killing her instantly. He then inflicted the same fate on himself, said Logan Township Police Chief Dave Hoover.
Although four of her children were present at the time of the tragedy, the 911 call was not made until 7:30 p.m. when her eldest, returning from work, found her lifeless, local media Altoona Mirror reported.
After being questioned by the police, the couple's children were placed in the care of family members by the social welfare office.
“We’re trying to go back and fill the day. “We are trying to find a motive,” Chief Hoover told the American media.
