O Israeli army dismantled the Hamas tunnel structure in the north Gaza Stripwith the city of Jabalia as the center of operations, where the bodies of five hostages already confirmed dead were found.
“In recent weeks, the 551st Brigade of the 162nd Division has secured control of the Jabalia camp area, one of Hamas' operational centers in the Gaza Strip,” the military said in a statement.
The actions included “fierce clashes” in which “many terrorists were killed by soldiers” and hundreds of weapons were located, Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said.
The bodies found were the three soldiers captured on October 7th, Ziv Dado, Ron Sherman and Nick Beiser, as well as civilians Eden Zacharias and Elia Toledano. “As part of the operation and according to the latest intelligence, they uncovered a network of strategic tunnels that served as Hamas headquarters in the north of the Gaza Strip,” the army announced.
The underground base in Jabalia included two levels: the first was about ten meters deep, and the second was several dozen meters deep. “The multiroute tunnel network was used to direct the fighting and movements of terrorists. Weapons, weapons manufacturing infrastructure and emergency storage facilities were found deep in the military barracks,” the statement continued.

The network was connected to a well that led to the residence of Hamas Northern Brigade commander Ahmad Andur and also ran beneath a school and a hospital. Regarding the discovery of the bodies of those abducted in the tunnels, the army said that the information was presented to the families to whom they expressed their condolences.
“Israeli troops, in cooperation with other security organizations, continue to use various operational and intelligence measures to return the hostages,” the army said.
At the end of the mission, forces dismantled Jabalia's underground headquarters as “part of efforts to target Hamas' tunnel infrastructure and target its senior commanders and strategic capabilities,” the military spokesman said. “These efforts will continue at all times and are now being carried out in Khan Younis and the southern Gaza Strip,” he added.
