Once unemployment claims have been exhausted, the beneficiary can apply for another benefit called ASS. Therefore, the special solidarity money takes over, but under certain conditions. One of them is not to exceed a monthly resource cap. This upper limit is to be reassessed in 2024.
Conditions for using ASS
In order to benefit from the special solidarity allowance, the candidate must meet certain criteria. First, he must be looking for a job. He must then provide evidence of 5 years of employment (full-time or part-time) during the last 10 years before the end of his employment contract. If the applicant stops working to raise a child, the 5 years to be initially justified are reduced by one year per child within the limit of 3 years.
Finally, the ASS candidate cannot exceed a monthly resource cap. According to calculations by the magazine “Notre Temps”, this upper limit is expected to rise in 2024 from 1,271.90 euros to 1,330.40 euros for a single person and from 1,998.70 euros to 2,090.60 euros for a couple.
Who is eligible for this support and how can I apply?
People who can benefit from ASS are job seekers who have exhausted their unemployment claims (ARE and AREF) and recipients of the ARE allowance aged 50 and over. Certain self-employed fishermen, workers and artists are also eligible for this allowance.
To benefit from the special solidarity allowance, no special steps are required. In fact, the ASS request is accessible directly in the applicant's personal area. This application is available 30 days before the applicant's unemployment claim expires and the remaining 60 days after their claim expires.
How much does the ASS cost?
After an increase of 5.6% on April 1, 2023, the daily amount of the specific solidarity allowance is now 18.17 euros or 540.10 euros for a month of 30 days (compared to 9.09 euros in Mayotte or 272.7 euros for a month of 30 days). days). In the event that the ASS beneficiary no longer registers as a job seeker, the remaining (unused) claims to this assistance can be withdrawn and paid out subsequently.
If the benefit recipient receives e.g. B. in the event of illness or maternity/paternity leave, social security daily allowances (IJSS) do not require payment of the ASS. Finally, and in the event of resumption of professional activity, the beneficiary can accumulate the specific solidarity allowance as well as his professional income for a period of three months.
