An American from Oregon decided to give himself a Christmas present by stealing gold items from a collection at a Washington County museum on Sunday night.

Local police said in a statement Monday that the suspect broke a window at the Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals on Groveland Drive to gain entry and exit with several pieces, mostly gold, on display at the facility.

The police, alerted at around 2:30 a.m., tried to locate the thief, but the perpetrator managed to escape with the stolen coins, the value of which has not yet been disclosed, according to the New York Post.

Images captured by surveillance cameras allowed police to draw a sketch of the suspect, described as an adult male of medium build, wearing jeans and a jacket.
