Powerball jackpot rises to $685 million on Wednesday after no winner was announced on Christmas Day

SAN FRANCISCO – No winner was chosen for the Christmas Day Powerball drawing, bringing the jackpot for Wednesday's drawing to $685 million.

Monday numbers are: 5, 12, 20, 24, 29 and Powerball 4.

The Powerball jackpot was $638 million at the time of Monday's drawing, with an estimated cash value of $321.1 million.

This is the fourth time this year that the jackpot has exceeded half a billion dollars.

At least five tickets were sold statewide that matched five of the six numbers and included prizes of $1 million or $2 million, depending on the game and the state's rules.

These tickets were sold in California, Colorado, Georgia, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania.

Sold at Donut Storr on Knott Avenue in Anaheim, the California winner received a prize of more than $2 million. Prizes in California are paid pari-mutuel and are based on sales of the game, rather than the fixed amounts set by Powerball officials for other states.

California appears to have some luck in the national draw.

There were two winning tickets worth more than $1 billion each in July and October.

The next drawing will take place on Wednesday at 7:59 p.m. PST.
