Derek Hough's wife, Hayley ErbertShe is grateful that she was able to spend the holidays with her husband after her recent health scare.
“I wish everyone a Merry Christmas! 🎄,” Erbert, 29, captioned an Instagram photo of himself and Hough, 38, kissing in front of their Christmas tree on Monday, December 25. “I appreciate the greatest gift of all. The precious gift of life and love that we share.”
To match the tree, Erbret wore green pajamas and a green polka dot bandana that covered any traces of her recent surgery, while Hough kept it cozy in a gray long-sleeved T-shirt. Erbert concluded her message by saying, “Hold your loved ones close and cherish every moment ♥️.”
Derek's sister, Julianne HoughIn the comments on the post, she praised her sister-in-law, calling her her “Christmas miracle.” The other cast members of “Dancing With the Stars” also expressed their congratulations for Erbert. “I love you. Merry Christmas. Looks great,” wrote Julianne’s co-host. Alfonso Ribeirowhile judge Carrie Ann Inaba commented: “Good to see you! Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁 Sending you so much love ❤️.”

Erbert's Christmas photo marks her first Instagram post since suffering a cranial hematoma earlier this month. Derek informed fans via Instagram on December 7 that Erbert was hospitalized and underwent an emergency craniectomy following a performance of his “A Symphony of Dance” tour in Washington DC the night before. “Her condition is stable,” Derek noted at the time.
Before the holiday weekend, Erbert underwent a second surgery to reconstruct the portion of her skull that was removed during her original procedure. “It is with great relief, gratitude and overwhelming joy that I want to share with you that Hayley's cranioplasty was successfully completed as planned,” Derek captioned a photo of himself sitting at his wife's hospital bed on Thursday, December 21.

He continued: “This surgery represents a significant milestone in my wife's recovery journey and your support has played a critical role in getting us here.” We are full of hope and optimism for the future and know that it is looking forward on the path to a full recovery, surrounded by such a loving community.”

Derek has continually shared updates with fans online about Erbert's condition, while also expressing his appreciation for the support he and his family have received throughout their recovery. “Thank you for the incredible support and medical care she received,” he wrote alongside an Instagram video of him and Hayley walking down the National Mall in Washington DC on December 15. “It was a profound reminder of how fragile life can be and how quickly things can change. But it also showed us the incredible strength and resilience that lies within us and the power of having a supportive community around us.”

In another Instagram post, Derek praised Erbert for inspiring him with “her will, strength and resilience” after her health crisis. “She is now on the long road to recovery. Words cannot express how thankful and thankful we are for the support and love you have given us,” he wrote on December 8. “The kindness shown to us during this incredibly unimaginable and life-changing time is immeasurable.” … Our hope is that we can somehow finance it as a family.”
