Ukraine attacked a Russian military ship anchored in the port city of Feodosia on the Crimean Peninsula on Tuesday, December 26.
According to the governor of the Russian occupation of the peninsula, Serguei Aksionov, the incident resulted in one death and two injuries.
In addition, six buildings were damaged and several residents had to leave their homes.
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday the destruction of a Russian ship in the Black Sea, which borders Crimea.
“The Russian landing ship Novocherkassk was destroyed in Feodosia this evening. “The Ukrainian pilots did an excellent job,” the folder posted on its official profile on X, a social network formerly known as Twitter.
“Crimea is Ukraine. “There is no room for the invasion fleet here,” he added.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, also commented on the attack with irony when he stated that the ship hit had joined “the Russian submarine fleet in the Black Sea.”
The Kremlin also confirmed the incident. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the attack was carried out with cruise missiles.
The ship was supposed to transport Iranian drones that the Russians had used in the war on Ukrainian soil.

Russian invasion
The current Russian invasion of Ukraine has been ongoing since 2014.
In March of that year, Russia sent unknown troops and took control of the Crimean peninsula.
The de facto annexation does not receive international recognition.
As recently as 2014, the Kremlin also sent military support to groups of Russophile separatists in the Donetsk and Luhansk provinces in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine.
In February 2022, Russia invaded Ukrainian territory across the country and attempted to dominate the capital, Kiev.
According to the US government, more than 500,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers have been killed or injured since the war began.
