Wonka carried all the titles $8.9 million — the second-lowest return for a No. 1 film after Christmas (since 2000), ahead of the studio's “Wonder Woman 1984,” which grossed $5.8 million when much of the country's theaters were closed because of Covid. Typically, these films that hit theaters on Christmas Day are bound to see ten times their opening day box office (not counting Christmas Eve previews).
