Pierce Brosnan has been charged over an off-trail hike in November in the Mammoth Terraces area of ​​Yellowstone National Park.

Court documents obtained by CNN state that the charges against the “007” actor are that he traveled only on trails in all thermal areas and within Yellowstone Canyon… and that he violated closures and use restrictions that are considered petty crimes be listed.

The 70-year-old “Mamma Mia” star was charged Tuesday with violating travel restrictions near the hot spring resort, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court in Wyoming.

According to the park's website, Yellowstone's thermal areas have “delicate, fragile crusts that can sit on boiling water.”

Park guests must use special boardwalks and hiking trails to move through Yellowstone's thermal areas.

Other safety precautions include staying away from the water in the hot springs as it can cause serious or fatal burns.

At least five people have been injured in Yellowstone's thermal areas in recent years.

A drunken Michigan man will also be barred from the park – at least until his case is resolved – after he stumbled into banned hot springs in August.

Another ill-informed visitor illegally stuck her hand into a scorching hot spring in June – and it was caught on video.

Brosnan was reportedly in the area to film parts of a western called Unholy Trinity, which also stars Samuel L. Jackson.

He is scheduled to appear in federal court in Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyoming, on January 23.

This appears to be the first time The Out-Laws actor has been in trouble with the law.
