A reckless driver caused at least three accidents and caused a stir on Highway 15 on Montreal's North Shore late Thursday afternoon.
The driver of a white caravan collided with several vehicles at high speed on the A15 southbound.
Jimmy Lemieux, a Blainville real estate agent who witnessed the scene, suffered much the same fate.
“I looked in my rearview mirror and saw a white caravan coming at full speed. So with my reflexes I turned my steering wheel a little and it narrowly avoided my mirror, maybe by 2.3 or 4 centimeters,” he told TVA Nouvelles.
As the driver overtook Mr. Lemieux's vehicle, the white caravan began to zigzag, the witness claims. The vehicle was pursued by a patrol car.
“In the distance I saw him hit a first vehicle, a second, a third. And there the policeman turned off his sirens. I don’t know if it was to stop scaring him or if it was to catch up with him,” he claims.
“He may have hit about 10 vehicles,” Mr. Lemieux added.
A little further on, Jimmy Lemieux saw the dangerous driver driving in the opposite direction on the A15 North. The policeman would have done the same and in this way intercepted the caravan and its driver.
The latter was then taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries, said the Sûreté du Québec, which confirmed that no other person was seriously injured.
