The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on December 27 through its official website that prices for some immigration procedures have changed due to adjustments due to current inflation.

Based on this information, the filing fee for Form I-907, which is the priority processing application, will be increased to reflect the current economic situation in the country.

For this reason, the priority processing fees USCIS charges for forms and categories that can be expedited have been updated to take into account average inflation from June 2021 to June 2023 according to the Consumer Price Index.

The adjustment increases some priority processing fees from $1,500 to $1,685, from $1,750 to $1,965 and from $2,500 to $2,805.

According to officials, this price increase for some immigration procedures will allow the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to offer priority processing services; improving decision-making processes; Addressing decision-making demands, including reducing waiting times for benefit applications; and fund other USCIS adjudication and naturalization services.

What are the current prices for the procedures and when are they used?

The fee change is effective February 26, 2024. If USCIS receives a Form I-907 dated February 26, 2024 or later with the incorrect fee, we will reject the Form I-907 and refund the fee. For commercial mail (e.g. UPS, FedEx and DHL), the date is what appears on the postal receipt.

Some price changes are as follows. Form I-129, Nonimmigrant Petition. From $1,500 to $1,685 and in other categories from $2,500 to $2,805.

Another important form is Form I-765, Application for Work Authorization. It went from $1,500 to $1,685.

“You may request priority processing for a benefit only if USCIS has announced on its website that priority processing is available for that benefit,” they emphasize.
