This morning a truck plowed into a crowd in the center of Passau, leaving one dead and six injured. This was reported by the Bild newspaper, which states that the driver, a 63-year-old, is currently in hospital. The victim appeared to be a 37-year-old woman (who died immediately) who was accompanied by her injured 11-year-old daughter.
The dynamics
The accident occurred near a Woolworths store, but police cannot provide further details at this time. It cannot be ruled out that the driver is ill and has lost control of the vehicle. An eyewitness told BILD: “As far as I know, a truck drove into a group of people. In the middle of the pedestrian zone in the train station district, near the H&M and Woolworth stores.” Another spoke of: “A red 7.5 ton truck.”
The mayor's condolences

I would like to warmly thank the police, emergency doctors, rescue services, rescue services, firefighters and all other rescue organizations who did their work in an exemplary manner under these terrible circumstances.
