Portable blender maker BlendJet has recalled 4.8 million of its more powerful BlendJet 2 blenders due to fire and cut hazards.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the voluntary recall Thursday and warned customers to immediately stop using the product and contact BlendJet for a replacement base.
According to the CPSC, there were more than a dozen incidents in which the blender caught fire, “resulting in approximately $150,000 in property damage,” as well as 49 reports of minor burns.
The CPSC said it received 396 reports of faulty blenders, most of which involved blades breaking during blender use.
A laceration was reported to the authorities.
Representatives for BlendJet did not immediately respond to The Post's request for comment.

The faulty blenders were sold for $50 to $75 from October 2020 to November 2023 at popular chains such as Costco, Walmart and Target, as well as on BlendJet's website, the CPSC said.
According to the agency, another 117,000 blenders that have since been recalled have been sold in Canada.
The recall affects devices for which the first four digits of the serial number are between 5201 and 5542.
BlendJet also has the “Is my BlendJet 2 recalled?” tool on its website, where consumers can enter their blender's serial number – printed on the bottom of the base along with “blendjet2” and “The Original Portable Blender” – to find out. whether they are entitled to a replacement.

The Benicia, California-based company said its newer versions of the BlendJet 2 — a larger, more powerful personal blender than its original version — were not affected by the recall. The devices feature an updated base with a different electrical configuration and thicker blades.
