Luxury cruise ship with 400 passengers is “swallowed” by a giant wave in the Danish sea.

The Norwegian cruise ship MS Maud was hit by a violent wave and strong wind, its windows were broken and there was a power outage while traveling in the North Sea around 200 km off the west coast of Denmark.
According to Portal, after the incident, Danish authorities reported that the ship had lost its ability to sail. There were almost 400 people on board the ship, including passengers and crew.

“There is no electricity on the ship. The main engine is working, but the navigation and radar systems are not,” said a spokesman for the Danish Joint Rescue Coordination Center, which is responsible for coordinating search and rescue operations.
The ship, owned by cruise company HX, a unit of Norwegian group Hurtigruten, departed Floro, Norway, on Thursday, December 21st, and was scheduled to arrive in Tilbury, England, on Friday, the 22nd.
“MS Maud reported a temporary power outage after encountering a violent wave. The ship confirmed that no passengers or crew suffered serious injuries as a result of the incident and the condition of the ship remains stable,” Hurtigruten Group said in a statement. The ship received a rescue escort towards Germany.
