When it appeared that negotiations between University of Sports and César Farías would be used, the Venezuelan coach was ruled out as a replacement for Jorge Fossati on the occasion of the elite club's 100th anniversary. The Llanero's situation with Águilas Doradas of Colombia, a team with which he had not yet been able to part ways, became untenable for the “U” since the separation between both parties would take more time. With this in mind, the cast of “Ate” will resume talks with Fabián Bustos, who was one of the first options examined.
Who is Fabian Bustos?
Fabián Daniel Bustos Barbero is a former Argentine player, brother of fellow coach Carlos Bustos (former champion coach at Alianza Lima in 2021), who has been a coach since 2009. He spent most of his career as a strategist in Ecuadorian football, including two first division championships and one second division championship. He also has brief experience in Brazil, where he managed clubs such as Santos and América Mineiro.
The team from Belo Horizonte was exactly his last squad, but it did not perform well in the second half of 2023, narrowly winning two games out of 18 trained and the team was eventually relegated to Serie B.

Why was César Farías expelled from Universitario?
This Friday, journalist Gustavo Peralta reported that Farías' move to Universitario for 2024 has cooled because the Venezuelan is considering his separation from his current club, with which he has a contract for the entire next year and whose clause is around $400,000 would not have been clarified.

With preseason already underway and no further signings to be made, Universitario decided to contact Bustos, a more viable option to fill the position left vacant by Fossati when he accepted the Peruvian team's offer.
