The only MP that Podemos had in the Asturian Parliament, Covadonga Tomé, who joined the Mixed Group after her recent expulsion from the party, has issued a challenge to the leadership by announcing that she intends to take part in the Podemos Asturies primaries , to act as regional coordinator and regional coordinator will head the list for the European elections next June. The deadline for registering candidacy ends this Friday at midnight, but the MP, expelled last Saturday for allegedly damaging the party's image, found that the website activated for this purpose did not allow her to complete the process.
For this reason, the presentation of both candidacies was carried out by sending a burofax to the Secretary General of Podemos, Ione Belarra, and the Organizing Secretary, Lilith Verstrynge. In it, Tomé reminds the party leadership that the expulsion is within the deadline of January 16th and therefore, in his opinion, he cannot be prevented from presenting his candidacy before the expiry of this deadline. A correction to the exclusion is also requested.

Tomé was not the only victim of the recent internal tensions in Podemos. The deputies' exclusion act also formulated the exclusion of some of their collaborators, such as Xune Elipe and Laura Tuero, then numbers two and three of the Podemos regional candidacy, as well as the exclusion of Jorge Fernández and a suspension of nine months for another twenty members of the Organization.

In this move by Tomé's team, both Xune Elipe and Laura Tuero have formalized, in the same burofax, the presentation of their candidacies for membership in the Autonomous Citizens' Council and for the body of the electoral list of the European elections next June. The fourth expelled, Jorge Fernández, and 16 of those given a nine-month ban have also joined.

The events occur at a turbulent time for the formation of Ione Belarra. Last Wednesday, Podemos and Sumar put aside their differences to agree on a joint candidacy for Galicia's elections, but the peace was short-lived. Just a day later, this Thursday, Pablo Iglesias called for rejecting the preliminary agreement sealed the day before, when registered people had to ratify the single list in a vote, the results of which will be published first thing on Saturday.
