After the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) began a search seven days ago to find the body of the four-year-old girl who sank in the Mistassibi river in Dolbeau-Mistassini, on Lac-Saint-Jean, officially announces that his Research stops.

In recent days, several specialized services such as hikers, divers and aerial surveillance by drone or helicopter have been called in to find the little girl who disappeared in the water while sliding with her mother near the motel chute on December 22nd.
“Unfortunately, despite sustained efforts and the lack of any leads to locate the little girl, we are suspending the ongoing search,” the SQ said in a press release sent to media late Friday afternoon.
However, divers should visit the site if the ice cover allows it.
However, the SQ indicates that if new elements emerge, services could be mobilized again.
“It should be noted that the investigation into this sad event is ongoing and that the MRC Maria-Chapdelaine Investigations Unit has supported the family from day one and the connection remains pending the outcome,” police added.
Remembering facts
On December 22, the 4-year-old girl and her mother slipped near the Chute des Pères Motel in Dolbeau-Mistassini when the little one fell into the waters of the Mistassibi River, a downstream tributary of the Mistassini River. Towards the south, where the current is very strong.
The tragedy occurred near Panoramique Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. All emergency services were quickly alerted.
Despite numerous specialized services, the distribution of a photo of the little girl's coat and seven days of intensive searching, the cottage could not be found.
This tragedy caused consternation in the small community of Lac-Saint-Jean. Expressions of sympathy accumulated on social networks and citizens offered to take part in ground searches.
The city of Dolbeau-Mistassini also responded, claiming it was “totally” with the victim’s family.
