One person was killed in a Ukrainian attack on a residential building in Belgorod, Russia, the governor of this province bordering Ukraine announced on Friday evening (December 29, 2023).

One man was killed and four people were injured in the attack, the governor said, adding that the city's water supply system was damaged.

Russian anti-aircraft units shot down “several” air targets in the southern Belgorod region as they approached the city, the regional governor added.

“According to preliminary information, there is one dead and one injured,” said regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

The Russian Defense Ministry assured that its anti-aircraft systems destroyed 13 missiles.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military posted a video on Telegram that showed the night sky over Belgorod and showed at least one building in flames.

Ukraine confirms 30 dead in Russian bombings

Belgorod is located 80 km north of Kharkiv in Ukraine, a city that Ukrainian authorities said was heavily bombed by the Russians on Friday morning.

At least 30 people died and more than 160 were injured, according to the latest death toll announced by Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klymenko.

According to the Ukrainian General Staff, Russia fired around 160 devices, including cruise missiles and Shahed drones. The anti-aircraft defense managed to intercept 88 missiles and 27 drones.
