Two Florida hikers were rescued over Christmas weekend after getting lost for hours in a swamp filled with alligators, snakes and other creatures.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in west-central Florida said it responded to a call from hikers who were in the Cypress Creek Wilderness Preserve near Tampa on the evening of Dec. 23.
The sheriff's office said: “He quickly moved into action to locate and rescue her. Our flight unit, equipped with night vision goggles, guided our patrol officers to a swampy area where the hikers were located and safely escorted them back to the preserve entrance.”

A video shared by the office on Facebook showed officers searching on the ground and in the air until the hikers were spotted through the trees by the aviation unit's night vision capabilities.

The office told the Miami Herald that the hikers “decided to call us as it was getting dark and they found themselves in a swampy area.”
At the end of the video, the hikers appeared to leave the swamp unscathed and cheerfully told officers, “How are you?”
They also said they were “fine” and didn’t need an ambulance.
