Universitario has defined its coach for the year of its 100th anniversary. After the departure of Jorge Fossati to the Peruvian team and when everything indicated that César Farías would replace the Uruguayan, the cream team chose the Argentine Fabián Bustos to take over the management of the team with an eye on the first division and the Copa Libertadores 2024.
Beyond his career, what convinced the “U” in the choice was that Bustos' technical assistant worked alongside Gregorio Pérez at Ate. This is Edgardo Adinolfi, who knows the intern and the Peruvian soccer player very well.
Through its social networks, Universitario confirmed that the new technical command will be presented today on YouTube. Marcos Connena (physical trainer) will work with Fabián Bustos.

The Argentine strategist has extensive experience leading teams on the continent. He began his career in Ecuador, where he was on the bench for Manta, Deportivo, Imbabura, Técnico Universitario, Macará, Liga de Portoviejo and Barcelona.
In 2022 he will take the big leap to Brazil and lead Santos. He then returned to Barcelona to return to the country of Rio and become coach of América Mineiro. Unfortunately, the Bunny didn't fare particularly well in 2023, as poor results saw him sacked from his position in November, condemning them to relegation to Brazilian football's Serie B.
Bustos became champion of the Ecuadorian Serie B (2015). Four years later, he won the Serie A title with the same team. The following year (2020) he became champion with Barcelona, also in Serie A. He was also voted Ecuador's best coach twice (2019 and 2020).

Bustos arrived in Lima yesterday evening together with Connena, while the Uruguayan Adinolfi will do so in the next few hours.
