Within 24 hours, two tremors were recorded near Lac-Simon in Outaouais, the last of which was the strongest.

On Saturday morning, several residents in the area said on social media that they were awakened by the noise and the feeling of the earth shaking.
According to Earthquakes Canada, which tracks all earthquakes in the country, the quake was officially registered at 4:24 a.m. and measured 3.6 on the Richter scale. At this magnitude, an earthquake is “often felt but rarely causes damage,” specifies Earthquakes Canada.
The epicenter of this quake is officially 42 kilometers north-northeast of Buckingham, a suburb of Gatineau, and its center of gravity is 18 km below the Earth's surface.
It occurred barely 24 hours after another minor earthquake was recorded, still in the Lac Simon sector.
This latest quake occurred at 4:55 a.m. Friday morning and was only 1.7 on the Richter scale, a magnitude at which they are not normally felt.
Its epicenter was 5 km northwest of Notre-Dame-de-Pontmain, and its center of gravity is also 18 km below the earth's surface.
