Tom Wilkinson, two-time Oscar-nominated actor from films including “Shakespeare in Love,” “The Full Monty” and “Michael Clayton,” has died.

He was reportedly 75 years old.

The news was confirmed by Wilkinson's publicist Nancy Seltzer, who shared a statement with CNN.

“It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Wilkinson announce that he died suddenly at home on December 30th. His wife and family were with him,” the statement said. “The family requests privacy at this time.”

A cause of death was initially not known.

The English-born actor made around 130 film appearances and was nominated for two Oscars. The first came in 2002 for his leading role in “In the Bedroom” alongside Sissy Spacek. Wilkinson's second Oscar nomination came for his supporting role in the 2007 film “Michael Clayton.”

Wilkinson starred in many high-profile films throughout his career, from The Girl with a Pearl Earring to Duplicity, known for his deft ability to switch between costume dramas and contemporary dramas and thrillers.

He made a name for himself in the 1990s with successful films such as “Wilde” and the Oscar-winning “Sense and Sensibility” with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet.
