A niece of famous singer Céline Dion died in a traffic accident in Lanaudière last night.
Brigitte Dion, 51, died in a head-on collision in Saint-Thomas, near Joliette, in the evening.
According to our information, she is the niece of the Quebec singer Céline Dion and therefore the daughter of her brother Clément Dion.
Ms. Dion had a daughter and two grandchildren.
The news spread on social networks in the early afternoon.
The tragedy occurred yesterday at around 6:15 p.m. when a vehicle on Rang de la Grande Chaloupe, for reasons still unknown, left its lane and went in the opposite direction.

This movement led to a collision with a vehicle traveling in the other lane, said the Sûreté du Québec. A third vehicle then hit the other two.

Ms Dion, who lived less than 2 kilometers away on the same row, was the driver of one of the two vehicles involved in the first collision, a white Mini Cooper.
His death was announced immediately. The drivers of the other two vehicles suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital as a precaution.
The SQ closed the dispute for part of the evening while it investigated the circumstances that led to this collision.
