The fire department was called to action around 2:35 a.m. “There were three alarms. We sent 15 firefighters to the operation,” said François Grenier, operations manager of the Saguenay Fire Safety Service in the Chicoutimi district.
The intervention of first responders led to the fire being extinguished. The facade of the supermarket was badly damaged. The cause of the fire has not yet been clarified. “A team of investigators has been deployed to investigate the causes of the incident. We cannot assess at the moment whether it is some kind of break, a crime or a completely different accident,” added Mr. Grenier.
On social media on Saturday, several Internet users appeared saddened by the news. “So sad for the new owner, really nice. Hoping for the best. “I wish him a good new beginning for 2024,” one release read.
Comments were along the same lines, emphasizing that the property, which had recently been the subject of a transaction, stood out under its new ownership.
