Yesterday we learned the big news that WWE is preparing a big surprise for the Day 1 edition of WWE RAW on January 1, 2024.
In fact, WWE is in the process of agreeing to feature a former WWE Champion this Monday. You can find all the details on this topic here.
So who could this person be?
It's still impossible to officially know who this person is as WWE wants to keep the surprise for the live show, but we can still analyze the possibilities. There aren't many names on the free agent market (or up for renewal) that are former WWE Champions.
Here is a list of some potential names that could return on RAW on Day 1:
Brock Lesnar : His return is scheduled for WrestleMania Adventure 40. Some expect to see him again at Royal Rumble 2024 or shortly before. His contract situation with WWE is still being kept under wraps, so a new contract may need to be negotiated for Day 1.
Big E : Injured since March 2022 due to surgery on the cervical vertebrae, his return is still being monitored as no date has been announced. Let's not forget that he was once WWE Champion, so his return is very possible.
Dave Batista : Retired wrestler but still waiting for his place in the WWE Hall of Fame, his name is on the list for Day 1. Batista was supposed to have a place in the Hall of Fame, but he withdrew due to COVID -19 back absence of the crowd. He missed the last few editions due to filming in the cinema, but one day he will return to this famous HoF ceremony.
Goldberg : Goldberg is still a free agent since his contract ended and is still waiting for his retirement game promised by Vince McMahon. Will 2024 be his victory lap?
Alberto Del Rio : Alberto always hoped to return to WWE for a few years. He talks about it in his interviews, but his return never materialized. Is that still possible or has WWE decided to ban him for life?
RVD : Rob Van Dam himself revealed that he was scheduled to attend WrestleMania 40 weekend, but his presence in AEW could complicate things. Could the former WWE and ECW champion still return to the WWE ring?
The Stone (Dwayne Johnson) : That's the name that always comes up and many are waiting for the famous match The Rock against Roman Reigns. Could The Rock be the right person to ring in 2024?
