Man convicted of drunk driving 21 times could be Canadian record, say police in Abbotsford, B.C
Police said officers were called to the scene of a motorcycle accident in August 2022, where they found a person who was a passenger on the motorcycle being treated for serious injuries.
According to police, the owner and driver of the motorcycle were known to be impaired and attempted to flee before officers arrived.
They say an investigation led to the arrest of 66-year-old Roy Heide, whose blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit at the time of the crash.
According to the police, Roy Heide pleaded guilty to several traffic offenses on December 18th, received a total sentence of almost five years and has now been convicted 21 times for incapacity to drive.
Abbotsford police say this is the highest number of impaired driving convictions in Canadian history and are warning of the devastating consequences of driving while impaired. Drunkenness for innocent road users.
