SWITZERLAND – The end of 2023 also marks the end of the mandate of the President of the Swiss Confederation. And he wanted to celebrate this occasion with humor, he, who is also leaving politics, as the Swiss media RTS noted.
In a video published on his social networks on Saturday December 30, Alain Berset is filmed in the corridors of the Federal Department of the Interior (EDI), who has also been its head since 2012. Beforehand, he puts a hat towards the exit while the parade takes place in the three national languages “Goodbye, goodbye (et) arriving.”
The 51-year-old from Freiburg doesn't forget to reward us with a little cinematic jump in which he hits both feet in the air, as seen in the video below.

At the head of the Swiss Confederation, he will be replaced on January 1, 2024 by the current head of defense, the centrist Viola Amherd, who will retain her portfolio. She is considered the best-working minister, according to a survey published this summer by leading Swiss press group Tamedia.
Against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, it has made no secret of its desire to intensify international military cooperation and move closer to NATO.
The predominantly honorary role of the president changes every year in Switzerland, with collegiality and willingness to compromise being characteristic of the Swiss federal government.
