Ed Sheeran and Chris Hemsworth hold up Thor's hammer Mjolnir in a new snap included in the hitmaker's 2023 round-up

Ed Sheeran showed his affection for Marvel by holding Thor's hammer Mjolnir in a photo included in his 2023 recap shared to his Instagram account on Sunday.

In the snap, the 32-year-old singer posed alongside Chris Hemsworth, who portrays the superhero, and the two held the handle of the Norse god's signature weapon.

The hitmaker, who recently posted a lovey-dovey snap with his wife Cherry, also wrote a short message in the caption of his post that read: “Have a lovely photo yes lovely I love you.”

The pair's encounter took place last February when Sheeran traded one of his guitars for the superhero's weapon.

Footage of the pair's encounter was shared on Hemsworth's Instagram account and the 40-year-old actor wrote: “I'm going to make this guitar sing like no other and you swing this hammer with all your soul. 'Love you bro!'

In the clip, Cabin In The Woods star Sheeran presented Mjonir and he described the prop as “my weapon of choice.”

The hitmaker also explained that he was “very interested in trading trading tools for trading tools.”

The songwriter then presented Hemsworth with one of the guitars he previously used on stage and joked that they should “swap professions.”

The actor ended his video by posing next to the Shape Of You singer, who declared himself “worthy” of holding Mjonir.

Sheeran went on to share a courtroom sketch that appeared to show him playing the guitar during his copyright trial, which took place last April.

The artist has been taken to court by the heirs of Ed Townsend, co-writer of Marvin Gaye's hit “Let's Get It On”, alleging that the singer copied parts of the title for his song “Thinking Out Loud”.

The songwriter, who appeared in court during his trial, eventually won his case.

The Grammy Award-winning artist concluded his performance with several shots of his collaborations with other musicians.
