Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky promised in his New Year's address this Sunday (31) to “destroy” the Russian army, which has been invading parts of Ukrainian territory since the end of February 2022.

“Next year the enemy will suffer the damage caused by our domestic production,” Zelensky said, alluding to the fact that Ukraine will have a million drones in its arsenal by 2024.

This speech came three days after the Russian army carried out one of the largest air offensives against Ukrainian cities since the start of the war, in which 39 people died.

The Ukrainian army responded on Saturday by killing 24 people in a bomb attack on the Russian city of Belgorod.

Ukraine will have at least “a million” additional drones and F16 fighter jets from its Western allies by 2024, Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian leader urged his Western allies to continue supporting Kiev amid growing international fatigue over the conflict.

“The Ukrainians are stronger than any intrigue, than any attempt to weaken global solidarity and undermine the coalition of our allies,” he said.
