A man and his partner were charged on Sunday with “acts of torture and barbarism resulting in the death” of a vulnerable man they were harboring in their home in Drôme, the Valence prosecutor's office said.
The couple had been taken into custody, Valence prosecutor Laurent de Caigny told AFP, confirming information from local daily Le Dauphiné Libéré.
The man and the woman in their 40s were taken into police custody after the body of a 53-year-old man with multiple injuries was discovered in their home in the village of Grand-Serre (Drôme) on Friday, the statement said Parquet.
The forty-year-old who sheltered this vulnerable man under guardianship admitted to beating him, the same source said.
According to an autopsy, the deceased, in his 50s, suffered several bullet impacts, the shots of which were recognized by his host. According to the public prosecutor's office, the victim died due to lack of treatment.
