The word “peace” was used most often by the head of state last night in his end-of-year speech to Italians. Mattarella says it eleven times in his 17-minute speech in which he uses terms from our language in 1861. For the strong head of state, the use of the word “violence” occurs nine times, Colle's use of the word “war” and “wars” occurs eight times, followed by the word “freedom” which occurs seven times. Mattarella uses the term “woman”, the term “life” and the word “future” six times. “Rights”, “values”, “dignity” and solidarity then form a word family that occurs a total of 14 times. The words “hope” and “pride” each appear twice in Mattarella’s speech. Finally, what stands out is the use of the verb “listen,” which occurs five times in Mattarella’s speech.
