BEIJING, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping and his U.S. counterpart Joe Biden exchanged congratulatory messages on Monday to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
In his letter, Xi stressed that the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the US is a major event in the history of bilateral and international relations.
Over the past 45 years, China-US relations have experienced vicissitudes and generally evolved, which Xi said has not only strengthened the well-being of the two peoples but also promoted peace, stability and prosperity in the world.
History has shown and will continue to show that mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and cooperation with common goals are the right way for China and the USA to get along as two great countries, the Chinese president emphasized.

Xi noted that when he met with Biden in San Francisco, the United States, the two laid out the forward-looking “San Francisco Vision,” which lays out the development path of bilateral relations.
He also called on China and the US to seriously implement the important joint agreements and achievements of the two leaders and take concrete measures to promote stable, healthy and sustainable development of bilateral relations.
