The semi-finals of “MasterChef Júnior” and four other proposals that you can see on TV today

La 1 will broadcast the semi-finals of MasterChef Júnior in prime time. In DMAX, the miners of The Subzero Gold Rush face new challenges. As for Film Day, three films with different intentions are mentioned: a masterpiece of poetic cinema by Eric Rohmer, “The Winter's Tale”, a benchmark of horror cinema, “Alien”, and a nostalgic song by Peter Bogdanovich, “Paper Moon”.

The gold rush below zero

17.50, DMAX

Low Gold Rush series

The Miners of The Subzero Gold Rush present a new season on DMAX. In keeping with the winter season and its harsh weather, they will try to find gold in arctic conditions, where the thermometer shows extreme temperatures below zero and the ground freezes, making their work much more difficult.

“Alien, the eighth passenger”

20.05, TCM

Alien, the Eighth Passenger, by Ridley Scott

Extraterrestrial. USA, 1979 (110 minutes). Directed by Ridley Scott. Cast: Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, John Hurt, Veronica Cartwright.

Alien became iconic from the moment it was released. At the time, it revolutionized two genres, horror and science fiction, with the strengths of memorable art direction, powerful and careful staging, and a resolute commitment to suggestion (the clarity only emerges in the final minutes). A suffocating spaceship, a remote planet and a terrible alien, of which a complete description is never shown, are the mainstays with which Ridley Scott played, in whom one could still believe as a director. A film that concentrates emotions to the extreme, interrupted by dark outbreaks of panic.

'Winter's Tale'

10 p.m., Movistar Indie

A winter fairy tale by Eric Rohmer

Conte d'hiver. France, 1992 (115 minutes). Director: Eric Rohmer. Interpreters: Charlotte Véry, Frédérick van den Driessche, Michael Voletti.

The second of maestro Eric Rohmer's four “Stories of the Four Seasons” showed the filmmaker in all his creative glory at the age of 72. While many young authors take refuge in industry and comfort, the great director of Nancy continues to be an example of modernity, freshness and passion for cinema. In “A Winter's Tale” he approaches with all his affection the story of a love triangle whose male ends struggle to conquer the female, a young woman marked by the loss of an old romance. Rohmer thus creates a film in which the apparent simplicity that the master imprints on all his works shines through and once again achieves the miracle of filming life itself.

'Paper Moon'

10 p.m., Movistar Classics

Paper Moon, by Peter Bogdanovich

Paper moon. United States, 1973 (98 mins). Director: Peter Bogdanovich. Cast: Ryan O'Neal, Tatum O'Neal, Madeleine Kahn.

In the Depression-era United States of the 1930s, a father and his young daughter, luxury con artists, travel the country ready to live a melancholy song prepared by Peter Bogdanovich. “Paper Moon” is an endearing comedy that hides a nostalgic evocation of the first order behind its apparent farce. Little Tatum O'Neal made her debut and managed to secure a privileged place in every fan's heart.
