Kim Cattrall shares heartbreaking post on her brother's 61st birthday after he took his own life five years ago: 'Rest peacefully and gently'

Kim Cattrall shared a heartbreaking post about her late brother Christopher Cattrall on Instagram on Tuesday.

The 67-year-old Sex And The City veteran honored her younger brother on his 61st birthday.

Chris was found dead at the age of 55 after taking his own life in February 2018 at his home in Blackfalds, Alberta, Canada. The family believed he had disappeared before receiving the sad news of his death.

In Kim's photo, Christopher – who she often addressed as Topher – appears to be enjoying some peaceful downtime while playing with three brown dachshund dogs in a field.

“Rest peacefully and gently on your birthday dear brother.” “#ChrisCattrall 1/2/1963 – 2/4/2018,” wrote the star, who recently appeared in the Sex And The City sequel series And Just Like That …

Chris was found dead by police after the Hollywood actress took to social media to ask for help finding him when he went missing.

It took authorities less than a day to find Cattrall on his property in Alberta.

Shortly after Chris' death, the longtime artist took to Twitter to update her followers on the grim news.

“It is with great sadness that my family and I announce the unexpected death of our son and brother Chris Cattrall,” she tweeted.

“We ask for privacy at this time.” “We would like to thank everyone on social media for your love and support during this difficult time.”

Cattrall's SATC co-star and nemesis Sarah Jessica Parker made a comment expressing her “condolences.”

Kim then exploded as she accused Sarah of trying to look good.

“Your continued outreach is a painful reminder of how cruel you truly were then and now,” Kim wrote.

In her new post, she wrote:

“Let me make this VERY clear.” (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend.

“So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy to restore your 'nice girl' persona,” Cattrall said in the post.

Although Kim clearly dislikes Sarah, she later appeared in the SATC spinoff series AJLT, which stars Sarah, but had no scenes with her enemy.

Wisely, Sarah didn't comment on Kim's new birthday post on Tuesday.

In June 2023, Kim spoke about Chris' death.

She said she found “sober clarity” after his suicide.

Cattrall spoke to the Sunday Times and said: “This shouldn't have happened.” It was sudden and unexpected.

“You remember where you were, what happened, what was said.” It's all so accessible at all times, a weight that is always with you and never goes away.

“It's just been an extraordinary few days.” Everything in you is on high alert because he can be saved. And in my family, that was one of the roles you take on.”

Cattrall said the loss of her brother taught her to set boundaries and said she doesn't want to “care or resent” people who don't want to fix themselves, adding: “You have to want to change.”

She explained that a friend of hers, who is a “huge supporter of AA,” told her that alcohol is “a mistress that makes you alone and kills you” – adding: “It was amazing to hear that pure clarity.” '

The star said she was glad her father wasn't alive at the time of her brother's death as she “didn't think he would have been able to bear it”.

In 2019, Kim shared, “I think the thing that has taught me the most lately is loss.” I lost two family members and I think that teaches me that I'm not there yet, but “To really enjoy what you do, to really appreciate your family, your friends… when I say goodbye to someone, I'm not going to see it for a while.”

In February 2012, she tweeted that her father, Dennis Cattrall, had died.
