Windows 11 start menu

After a break due to the end-of-year holidays, the Windows Insider program is back in action. New builds of Windows 11 will be released in a few days, hopefully with some surprises and new features.

In the meantime, the company promises that changes will be made to one of the essential elements of the operating system interface, the Start menu. This pledge is signed by the new head of the Windows and Web Experiences team, Mikhail Parakhin. It is the result of a query by Mark Szili published on X (formerly Twitter)

Please just fix the start menu so that I can scroll through all apps without having to click on “All Apps”.

Mikhail Parakhin answered his Account

That's so true ! It also annoys me to no end. Let's push team – we need to make the Start menu great again.

This reaction quickly attracted attention for two reasons. First, if the extra click to access all applications also annoys the team leader, it is very likely that a solution will be proposed.

The other reason is that Microsoft recognizes that the Start Menu isn't “great” yet and that improvements are needed to make it so. This assumes that significant effort is being made to improve the overall experience. The next builds released as part of the Windows Insider Program should provide the beginning of an answer.

Several reports announce that the first meeting around Windows 11 is planned for the first quarter of 2024 with the release of the Moment 5 update.
