Just hours after reports surfaced that The Bachelorette alum Rachel Lindsay's husband Bryan Abosolo has filed for divorce, he released a statement about the split.
38-year-old lawyer Lindsay and 43-year-old chiropractor Abosolo first met on season 13 of The Bachelorette, with Lindsay accepting his proposal in the finale.
They tied the knot in Cancun in August 2019, although it was revealed on Tuesday that Abosolo had filed for divorce and listed New Year's Eve as the date of separation.
After the initial report of their breakup, Abosolo confirmed the breakup with a statement on his Instagram page on Tuesday.
“If you've been following me for a while, you know that I don't like posting my personal matters on social media and want to create a safe space for our family,” Abosolo began.

“Many of you know me as a chiropractor and also as a husband, my proudest role to date,” he continued.
“After more than four years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to separate and start over,” he said.
“My parents have always been married and I'm a family man, but sometimes loving yourself and loving your partner means you have to let go,” he continued.
He added: “I wanted you to hear it from the source before the blogs start inventing their own reality.”
“Please respect the space of our family and friends as we plan our next steps.” “With respect, Bryan,” he concluded.
Lindsay hasn't publicly commented on the split, but she did pen a New Year's Eve post that began: “Definitely one of the most difficult years of my life.”
She added that she chose to focus on grateful moments and carry that energy into 2024.
The couple have no children together and the filing states there are “irreconcilable differences” for the split, while he also asked for spousal support.

The news comes just weeks after Lindsay said on a podcast that they were living “completely different lives.”
She added that the problem was their very different careers, with him working up to 12 hours a day while she had more free time.
Speaking to 's Russ Weakland at Project Angel Food's fourth annual Lead With Love fundraiser in Los Angeles, Rachel discussed her big plans for the coming year.
“I'm trying to take a step back and not work as much until I leave 2023 – and go into 2024 with something new,” she explained.
She told : “I would like to try having a child.” I want to have a child. This is something new for 2023, and hopefully this will happen by 2024.”
