The Game of Thrones series, an adaptation of George RR Martin's novels, hasn't made enough headlines yet! Even though the first fiction derived from the universe, House of the Dragon, ended almost five years ago, it was crowned with success and fans are eagerly awaiting the second season, scheduled for summer 2024. It is therefore difficult not to continue riding this wave… Further spin-offs are therefore in development, such as the one dedicated to the character of Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington. But that's not all, as George RR Martin made new revelations on his personal blog, revealing that the Game of Thrones universe would soon be expanded with an animated series.
An animated series for Game of Thrones coming soon
In fact, the author has announced that he is collaborating with the American broadcaster HBO on several animated series projects related to Game of Thrones. “It turns out that HBO and I are discussing our own animated projects that take place in the world of Game of Thrones. None of these have been officially validated yet, but I think we'll be able to move up a gear on some of them soon. When we started the dialogue a few years ago, we had four very different ideas for animated series that involved great talent (…). “Unfortunately, two had to be abandoned,” he announced.

George RR Martin then said: “Work on the other two projects is progressing steadily. In the meantime, we have decided to make Nine Voyages, our project based around the legendary voyages of the Sea Serpent, into an animated series rather than a live-action series. It is a decision that I fully support (…). There's a whole world to develop, and we have a better chance of realizing it through animation. In fact, we have three animated projects in the pipeline today.” All that remains for fans to do is wait until the release date of this animated series is known, which will focus on the exploits of Corlys Velaryon, the character also known as the Sea Serpent by Steve Toussaint in “House of the Dragon”.
