Jessica Lange made her triumphant return to the Ryan Murphy universe in the first trailer for Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, premiering January 31 on FX and February 1 on Hulu.
The mysterious figure of the 74-year-old veteran actor was seen smoking and laughing on a lounge chair next to Ann Woodward (Demi Moore), who was accused of murdering her husband in 1955.
Jessica was also seen dancing fancy with acclaimed writer Truman Capote (Tom Hollander) in a fancy ballroom at a black tie event.
Capote famously lost his high-society privilege in 1976 after Esquire published chapters from his unfinished novel Answered Prayers – notably a tell-all about his wealthy “swan” girlfriends entitled La Côte Basque in 1965.
The betrayal and strife are depicted in showrunner Jon Robin Baitz's 2021 small-screen adaptation of Laurence Leamer's book Capote's Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era.

Creator Ryan Murphy gushed on Instagram on December 5 that he was “so excited about this” and that working with his longtime muse Lange and the rest of the all-star ensemble cast was “exciting.”
In 2017, Jessica — who is just one Grammy away from elite EGOT status — famously headlined the first season of the Feud anthology, which focused on the rivalry between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon).
Lange previously starred in Ryan Murphy's horror anthology American Horror Story for five seasons – Murder House (2011), Asylum (2012), Coven (2013), Freak Show (2014) and Apocalypse (2018).
The Marlowe actress also portrayed Infinity's (Zoey Deutch) grandmother Dusty Jackson in the first season of Ryan Murphy's The Politician, which streamed on Netflix in 2019.
In the Capote vs. Swans preview, it's former Vogue editor Babe Paley (Naomi Watts) who is the first celebrity to gossip with Truman about “the governor's wildebeest wife” lecturing him: “The fact is: Even your sister will steal your husband from you.”
Jackie O's younger, socialite sister Lee Radziwill (Calista Flockhart) calls someone “horrible, worn out and fat” in one scene and declares in another part, “I don't care about the money. It's the sex!”
As Truman's rejection by The Original Housewives begins, he screams, “That's what a writer does!” It's bloody and sharp and real!'
Howard Hawks' ex-wife and fashion icon Slim Keith (Diane Lane) screams that Capote “took away everything I had” so he would be “cut off from all of high society, and that will kill him.”
