Simone Biles has given a light-hearted apology after attending a wedding with her friend on New Year's Eve and falling asleep at 10.30pm.
The 26-year-old Olympic gymnast had been eagerly looking forward to Ali Tyler's wedding, but was caught on camera by her friend Kayla Simone taking a nap hours before midnight.
Kayla posted the picture of sleeping Simone on her Instagram story and comically wrote: “Not this damn invitation to fly me across the country for a New Year's Eve wedding just so she can fall asleep before 10:30 p.m.”
Simone then re-shared the humorous snap, replying with a laughing emoji: “I'm sooooo sorry.”

She accessorized her formal dress with a range of silver accessories, including a necklace that paid homage to husband Jonathan Owens, 28.
The NFL star, who plays for the Green Bay Packers, was unable to attend the wedding because his team was playing the Minnesota Vikings in Wisconsin.
Simone usually shows her support by personally cheering on her husband at his games. This was the first time in several weeks that she missed her friend's special day due to the argument.
She and Owens married at a Houston courthouse in April 2023 before celebrating their official wedding in Mexico.
Simone recently documented her journey as she built her dream home in Texas to her 7.1 million social media followers.
But last month, Simone told her Instagram followers to “stop bringing her up” amid strong backlash over her husband's claim that he was unaware of the four-time Olympic gold medalist's success before they met.
Simone shared her own post from the big day with the caption: “Ringing in the New Year.”

The New Year's Eve wedding isn't the first time that Simone has been called out by her friends because she fell asleep.
Fellow gymnast Aly Raisman I posted a picture of the sports star sleeping on the flight back to the US from the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Aly captioned the picture: “Miss Simone Biles fell asleep before we took off.” Who's the grandma now, guys?
Simone had won five medals in South America this season's competition.
