The Bears' season will be over whether they win, lose or tie on Sunday, but that doesn't mean they go into their game against the Packers without regard to the outcome.
A win would put the Packers in the playoffs, and Bears quarterback Justin Fields made it clear Wednesday that avoiding that is motivation enough for the team to have a big performance in Green Bay.
“I think it would mean a lot to the team, the fans and the city,” Fields said, via Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times. “I think it would be great. We know Green Bay is playing for a lot and what is at stake. They are currently playing for a spot in the playoffs. So I just think with everything that’s on the table, it would be a great feeling to end the season up there with a win at Lambeau.”
Fields left out what a win would mean for him, but it would be a good final act as the Bears face some important decisions this offseason. With the first overall pick in the draft, the Bears have the choice of selecting one of the top quarterbacks coming out of college or choosing Fields as he enters his fourth NFL season.
Of course, there will be arguments on both sides, but leading the Bears to wins in five of their last six games while showing improved play makes Fields a more attractive option than he was earlier in the year.
